number three

so we have had a break in having to do projects.
last friday, when love bug got home from school. he had a blue paper with him.
hmmm....that usually mean something....ummm hmmm.

well i was right.
it was project note. ohhh how i do not like to see those notes.
and to top it off. the project was due 1-26-12. yea, so that meant that he had only four days to work on it.

well the project was for a literature tree project.
okay first of all....what is a literature tree?
second....it had to be a three dimensional model.
third....it couldn't be made on construction paper. (what's that all about)
fourth....LATE projects would not be accepted.

i had no earthly idea what we were going to make.
oh and to top it off you had to use the format of a story map.
yea....like i'm still in school.

i am telling you guys....third grade is gonna be the death of me.
no wait i still have nine more years to go.

so i googled and googled literature trees....3D trees.
there's not that much stuff out there on literature trees or 3D trees.
but, if you want to buy trees or learn about trees. there are TONS of websites about that.

anyways, i kind of slacked over the weekend. so monday rolled around.
and guess where we ended up at monday evening?
MICHAELS.
i thought surely there had to be something there. we ended up seeing a couple of kids that love bug goes to school up there too.
apparently their parents were thinking the same thing i was.

well we came across a 3D foam tree. which i thought was pretty cool.
so did love bug but he wanted to see other options.
okay.....started walking around the store. going up & down the aisles.
then i spotted the styrofoam aisle.
HALLELUJAH!!!  an idea popped into my head....DING

i told love bug about the idea. and he rolled with it.
i ended up getting him a styrofoam block and some leaves. plus some other stuff that we thought we could use.
we had the neighbor break off a tree limb. so we could use some of the smaller branches.

$30 later this is what we came up with.

not too shabby for this momma not knowing what a 3 dimensional literature tree was, huh?

they will be displayed at open house next month.

shout out to joe....lovebugs bff :-) for cutting the styrofoam for us.
